'It helps me feel like I"m not alone' — The impact of your support
This Holiday season, Project Legacy is grateful for all of you who make our work possible. We know there are many deserving programs you can support, and it means the world to us that you are considering Project Legacy in your year-end giving and generosity during the holidays.
Within a few weeks, our annual report will be sent to our donors and volunteers so you can see the impact of your support. It certainly has been an incredible year of life-changing transformation, all because of you.
But today, we want to pause in the midst of the busy holiday season, simply to say thank you. Thank you for supporting our kids. For making sure that the dental needs of homeless youth are taken care of. That college students who have no family support or resources have food and winter clothing. That middle school girls living in poverty have the same opportunities as their more affluent classmates. That the emotional support that is so critical to healing is provided by our trained volunteers and professional staff members.
Life-changing transformation because of you.
At a recent Circle, our young adults talked about why they attend even when it’s below zero and there are other things they could be doing with their time.
"I come to Circle because this is where I can talk things out. There are people here who have been through some of the same things I have been through, and it helps me to feel like I'm not alone.”
"This might sound funny but I think you'll understand this—I belong here. I don't have a place of my own. I don't belong anywhere. Right here, on this sofa, this is my spot. Every Circle, this is where I sit. It's comfortable here. It's a soft spot, it's warm, it's safe. Alysha sits over there, Paul sits there, and this is where I belong. Right here. This is mine.”
"I come here for self-reflection. This is a friend group that challenges me in a good way, in a respectful way. They make me think about different viewpoints and I grow because of that. And it’s peaceful here. It’s not peaceful with my family. I come here to think."
"This is a safe place where we challenge our beliefs within a respectful community, and that's important. It's okay to be honest here, but you also have to be kind and respectful.”
"Circle is consistent and stable and I find comfort in that—I've never found this anywhere else."
