Dear Friends of Project Legacy,

Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to help support Project Legacy and our young people amidst the horrific murder of George Floyd. Our first priority right now is our Project Legacy youth who are working hard to support one another while processing their own grief and trauma.

Over this past week, you have stepped up and we are so grateful. From donating items to our youth protesting and organizing cleanup efforts in Minneapolis to donating funds to fight racial justice in our community, you are making a difference.

This week, we were able to text one of our young college students:

"I wanted to tell you that people have been donating in memory of George Floyd. To honor his memory, your (outstanding tuition bills) debt will be paid on Wednesday so that you can go back to college. Please honor his memory by doing your best and working for justice.”

The Project Legacy George Floyd College Tuition Fund has received more than $7,300 in donations this past week. Because of your generosity, two college students will be returning to college because their past due debts are paid. Thank you.

We are going to continue rebuilding our communities by investing in our most valuable resources: our black and brown children.

From mentorship provided by Project Legacy to wraparound support to come alongside our youth for the long-haul, our kids are changing their families, their communities and our world. Our end game is justice and equality; access and opportunity; compassion and the healing of trauma.

And we need you to be a part of it.

Below you will see continued ways to support us amidst the COVID-19 crisis and ways to get supplies to our organizers up in Minneapolis. If you are able, please consider a financial contribution to Project Legacy to allow us to fund the areas of greatest need within our organization — from college debts to medical bills, these funds help our youth directly.

Thank you for your friendship and support. Bringing global change takes a community of loving, compassionate people who are committed to justice and are this for the long haul.

Will you fight with us?

Make a donation to Project Legacy today.

This week, we have made numerous trips to Minneapolis to support our youth on the frontlines. Devyn, Cherokee, Elijah, Ampa, you all are amazing!

  • Diapers

  • Wipes

  • Baby Formula

  • Food

  • Bottled Water

  • PPE

Please contact us to coordinate a drop-off (while wearing a mask and practicing social distancing). You can reach us at kedmonds@projectlegacymn.org and drop-offs will take place at the Empowerment Center: 930 40th St. NW, Rochester, MN 55901.
